| Hi our longtime housekeeper (15 yrs) will be out for 6 months for a knee replacement. What are we obligated to pay her while she is out. She has not asked for anything but juts wondering .... |
| Are you paying her on the books or not? If not, you're not legally obligated because you don't legally employ her. |

What a stupid answer, PP.
OP, we need more detail to be truly helpful. Is she your exclusive employee? Do you already offer benefits such as PTO and paid holidays? Does she have guaranteed hours? |
| This is a nanny section not a housekeeper. Big difference |
| I don't think you are obligated to pay her anything beyond if she's using PTO, sick days, vacation days, etc. I'm sure she figures she won't be paid for 6 months and has factored this into whether or not she should get the surgery. That said, she may be back earlier than 6 months. |
| um... this isn't a housekeeper forum. Please go elsewhere. Thanks. |
| I think what ever you pay her outside your contract is generous. As I don't believe you are responsible for paying anything. |
+1 and pps don't have to be rude, geez. |
