6 months out for knee replacement... what to pay

Hi our longtime housekeeper (15 yrs) will be out for 6 months for a knee replacement. What are we obligated to pay her while she is out. She has not asked for anything but juts wondering ....

OP, we need more detail to be truly helpful. Is she your exclusive employee? Do you already offer benefits such as PTO and paid holidays? Does she have guaranteed hours?

I don't think you are obligated to pay her anything beyond if she's using PTO, sick days, vacation days, etc. I'm sure she figures she won't be paid for 6 months and has factored this into whether or not she should get the surgery. That said, she may be back earlier than 6 months.

I think what ever you pay her outside your contract is generous. As I don't believe you are responsible for paying anything.
