I am in a new position we are still in the trial period. Long story short I was at the park with my charges and another nanny told me she is returning to Mexico soon when her visa expires and asked me to call her boss about a position. I don't know the hours or pay or even her boss. Should I call? She told me this Monday and wants to meet with me again Friday to see if I called.

No. Done.

Are you happy with your job? Nothing wrong with exploring your options, especially if there is an aspect of your job you aren't thrilled about.

That's weird. Do you even know this nanny or did she approach you out of the blue?

No I have a feeling OP and nanny were talking about the negatives of there job(s) at the park instead of watching their charges. The other nanny, thinking OP was happy with her job due to the gossip offered her possible employment with her nanny-family.

OP you're obviously unhappy with your job but you may not like this new one either. Whatever, it's up too you. What do we care? LOL.

I love when you can sense how misrible a person is without ever having to actually meet them.

OR... OP was doing a terrific job of engaging with her charges and this other nanny took note and wants a good nanny for her replacement. It is on my contract that if I leave before the kids are in school, that I will help find qualified replacement. I was also offered a job the other day when a mother liked the way I was engaging with my charges. Why always assume the negative?

PP, I agree. This board could be so much more helpful if we nannies encouraged each other instead of always assuming the worst of each other. OP, we don't really know enough to know if it's worth you exploring it or not. If your unhappy with your job in some aspect (not clicking with the family, the hours, the rate etc...) then it might be worth hearing about. Also if the other nanny approached you about it then it would have been appropriate to ask her for some details about the other position before calling. Also think of what you have seen about her charges and how they interact with her.

Well it all depends on how things are going w/your trial family thus far.

Do you think it is a good match on both sides??

Also, it is odd that this lady wants you to call her bosses w/out knowing many job details, but perhaps it is a language issue on her part?
