Cori check without ssn

I have been a nanny for seven years and not once has a family done a cori check on me. I never gave any family my ssn but always offered to if they provided me with the cori form. I have nothing to hide and recently spoke to my employers about background checks for a potential babysitter. she mentioned how she can do them at work. Besides that being illegal because she would be using her company's program, can she actually get a background check without a persons ssn? Is that illegal?

You can hire a PI for like $100 to do a BG check. Having a middle name, where they went to school and other info helps, you don't necessarily need the SSN

What resources she is allowed to use at work is really her business. But no, you don't need an SSN to run a background check.

If someone has nothing to hide then they wouldn't be concerned. People will something to hide should be given no privacy rights esp when it comes to working with little children.

Don't no if it's illegal or not though.

Actually, for a proper background screening, you do need the SSN, as you want to trace the SSN's entire history.

How is that possible, especially when her name is common?

I have had people tell me they do background checks on me at home because they have certain software on their computers.

To anyone considering doing a background check without the applicant's signed permission, I hope you get caught and get in trouble. That is not only illegal, but it is so wrong.
