Explain nanny-share contract to me RSS feed

We are new to the nanny-share idea and I am curious about how the contract works regarding one topic:

Do shares typically involve a contract that specifies a length of employment time? For example, as the family, do we go under contract for one calendar year? Or isn't this typically done. My husband and I need childcare now, but there is a chance we'll be moving out of the area in about nine months. How would this typically be handled?

Thanks for any advice.

I am a share nanny. My contract is for a term of one year, with the understanding that any party may leave whenever they choose with 30 days notice and best efforts to find a replacement. This means that if I were to quit, I would give notice and try to help find a new nanny, and if either family were to leave the share, they would help find a new family to take their place. I would be honest with your share family and nanny about the potential that you will leave in 9 months so they aren't blindsided and can keep an eye out for a replacement. Good luck!
