Yes, they are out there but is it super necessary to call troll on EVERY SINGLE THREAD.... 1. Is it really hurting you if they are, in fact, making up a story for the sake of theoretical discussion and 2. How are you any better with your useless and, quite often, mean response?
Didn't we all learn the adage if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all? It would be nice if the people who are entrusted with caring for children would start demonstrating some caring and patient qualities themselves. |
| Are you saying there are no mb trolls here? |
Presumably MBs and nannies care for children, no? |
|
There is no way to know who is posting.
Trolls can be anyone. Could be a parent, nanny, a cyber terrorist...anyone. Just ignore the crap and move on. anon·y·mous Pronunciation: \?-?nä-n?-m?s\Function: adjectiveEtymology: Late Latinanonymus, from Greekan?nymos, from a- + onymaname — more at nameDate: 15631 : of unknown authorship or origin <an anonymous tip> 2 :not named or identified <ananonymous author> <they wish to remain anonymous> 3 :lacking individuality, distinction, or recognizability<the anonymous faces in the crowd> <the gray anonymousstreets — William Styron> |
| Well Jeff has confirmed a nanny troll in.the past (yes he knew she was a nanny), so people are already.suspicious. plus, some posts just scream troll. Such as the "nannying just quit" thread. It combines common gripes /stereotypes of WAHP by nannies, as well as common explanations /naivety posted from WAHP. I don't buy that that post is real |
If you are being honest, then you reported that thread, or not? |
Yes, it is hurting us. Because they aren't making up posts for the sake of discussion, they are making them up to stir up trouble and they make nannies look incredibly unprofessional. If this board had been such a mess two years ago, I really doubt I would have been able to find my nanny family on here. |
| Agree it does hurt us all when trolls make up crazy stories. I've said it before - why not just pose these scenarios as hypotheticals rather than pretending they're true? Well, OP, the trolls don't do that because they don't want a discussion, they want a right. It reflects badly on all of us. |
| A fight, not "a right" |
| Trolls don't "make" anyone, but themselves "look" bad. Everyone here knows that each poster speaks only for herself. |
|
Trolls definitely make the nannies here look bad.
I ignore the over the top ones, but occasionally will call out ones that are particularly emotionally manipulative especially when posters are seriously wanting to help and investing time and emotion in an obvious fake. |
|
I see someone on almost every other post accusing the poster of being a "Troll." It is starting to annoy me and is making this forum a little tough to read at times.
Whoever is doing the finger pointing sounds to me like they just have too much time on their hands. |
| It's highly doubtful one person is accusing the trolls, PP. It's weird that you think that the people making the accusations are the problem. You're wrong. The trolls are the problem. |
I agree, it really feels like it is one or two posters. Their snark and negativity, as well as the point in the discussion where they call troll are very predictable. |
+1 I call troll occasionally (less than half a dozen times TOTAL), and sometimes get yelled at for doing so "too often." We are not the problem, OP, the trolls are. Or maybe you're a troll yourself trying to derail the productivity of this forum even further...?
