Anyone offer their nanny health insurance? Looking for referrals... RSS feed

I'm tossing around the idea of offering my nanny additional benefits, e.g., perhaps health insurance (she is not covered currently). Does anyone do this, and if so, do you have referrals to brokers or other programs? Thanks so much.

You can maybe do a search on this forum.

Yes, we give her a monthly stipend but she was responsible for finding and selecting her own plan.

would you mind me asking what the stipend is?

We provide $150/month. I believe she supplements that to afford a slightly more expensive plan.

The cost for everyone's plan will be different, depending on age, general health, deductible choices, etc...

The cleanest way to do it is simply to offer a contribution (or full coverage) to the costs. The nanny needs to provide you proof of ongoing health insurance and then you can give him/her a check for whatever portion of the cost you wish to cover.

You do not want to get into the business of selecting or controlling his/her insurance.

We helped our nanny find/select insurance coverage through ehealthinsurance.com and were pretty satisfied with it, but if you search here you'll find other recommendations also.
