Diaper Rash RSS feed

My baby develops a diaper rash throughout the week and I suspect it's because the nanny leaves her too long in dirty diapers. The rash gets better over the weekend when the baby is in my care and then worsens again during the week. I have asked the nanny to be more attentive to it, but she's very defensive and does not take responsibility, blaming it on "large stools" and pooping during her nap (the latter I know my daughter never does). Am i wrong to be angry about this? Am i making a bigger deal out of it than it is?

How many diapers get used during how many hours during her shift?

22:58 here. If you don't know how many diapers she's using, count the dirty diapers at the end of the day tomorrow.

Good advice above. I would systematically count the diapers used and see how many she uses during her shift. Also, keep some baby rash cream on the changing table and ask the nanny to apply some with each diaper change. That is what my employers ask me to do and I do it faithfully.

The fact that your baby's diaper rash only comes when in the care of your nanny is disheartening to me.
If in fact your nanny is lying to you and/or making up excuses, then imagine what else she is lying to you about OP. Not to be extreme, but this is your baby she is caring for. She should be 100% honest and upfront about EVERYTHING related to your child. I know I always am to my employers.

When caring for infants, I always check their diapers at least every two hrs. Even more so in cloth diapers since they do not absorb.

I would be angry. The nanny being defensive is a problem.

Count the diapers used to see how many times she's changing the baby. I would also ask her to use diaper cream or aquaphor at every change, to help protect the skin.
