My time with my current family is coming to an end. I had found two part time families to divide the week. One of the families reneged on their job offer. So now I'm stuck searching for someone two days a week. Anyway, the family who I'd be working for part of the week told me they are willing to pay sick days and holidays but are not willing to pay vacation. Is it unreasonable for me to expect vacation? Of course it should be adjusted to the number of days I am there (ie two weeks vacation, 3 days in each week.) I'm worried that I'm running out of time to find another position if we can't come to an aggreement. My current family didn't exactly give me much notice that they'd no longer be needing me. |
I expect vacation pay for any job that's 35 hours/week or more. I don't expect it for jobs that are more PT than that.
Not sure if that helps you, but it's the guidelines I use. |
It's 27 hours. I think I've decided that I'm ok with not getting paid should I choose to take time off, however I will still need to compensated should they take vacation time. |
For part time you're lucky your getting much benefits at all. Don't rock the boat. |
I'd take what I could get, but not limit my search to jobs that work with their schedule. I'd put my energy into finding a FT job. You told them what you needed and they refused. There are consequences to being rigid and stingy. |
I'm PT and I get benefits as if I were FT. If I were you, I'd take the job, but keep looking. Guaranteed hours, sick pay, holidays, and vacation are all on my list of needs for a happy employment! Good luck! |
