Our wonderful nanny of 5 years is leaving to pursue a career in education. Does anyone have any ideas for a thoughtful, meaningful gift to get for her?
Thanks! |
Give her the most amazing reference letter anyone can get. And whatever you can afford cash bonus. Kudos to you for being a good MB. |
What about having your kids make a picture frame for her or something from a place like color me mine. I love getting art from the kids. |
Sentimental gifts are always nice but really, whatever you can afford in the way of a cash "bonus" will be the most appreciated gift. |
Reference letter, small sentimental gift, a heartfelt verbal thanks, and cash! ![]() |
If she doesn't have one, an iPad. We gave our nanny-turned-teacher an iPad 2 and she says it's her favorite gift ever. Uses it every day. |
After 5 years I would give:
A heartfelt card with a framed picture of the kids/family A cash bonus An iPad, a personalized bracelet, or something else that I knew would be appreciated (you know your nanny better than we do!) |
I was with my family for seven years and all I got was a picture frame from the kids and a cup that I used in their house. It was really disappointed for me but people sometimes don't appreciate what you did for them and their kids. I'm not planning to come back there.
Ps. I gave them a month notice and didn't even get my reference letter. Good luck with their new child care I'm glad I left! |
Something all nannies can agree on.
CA$H MONEY. |
A nanny friend just left her job of almost 6 years, and the family had a photo book made of photos of her and her charge through the charge's young life (from a few months old to getting on the school bus for 1st grade). She treasures this. She also received good severance but I don't know the details. |
Why do people say "cash money"? Cash is money. |
