My first live in job (1994) was in Naperville IL and 6 or so weeks after I moved in the mother (single parent house) disappeared for 2 weeks! I was to feed the boy dinner and put him to bed, sleep in the boy's bedroom, get him up and ready and take him to school. She said that she would be "working" on the phone locked up in her bedroom at night, and occasionally "go out on a date" for the escort part. She said she usually wouldn't have men there, but may from time to time. Ummmmmm....I said no thanks to the job!
