Anyone else have an issue with Crocs and children falling? I have never had young charges who have worn them, but my newest (3 yo) will wear nothing but. The problem is, she has fallen-I'm talking flat out face planting falls-twice while wearing them. I have never encountered a child who trips/falls as severely as her and the only thing I can think is that it is the shoes. Anyone else experience this? Or am I just nuts?

The are extremely dangerous so I don't allow my charges to wear them with me.

Yeah, I don't let any of my charges wear them either. They still wear the leather shoes popular with kids just learning to walk, crocs are a nightmare.

I suspect the attraction is that they're easy to slip on and maybe comfortable. But nothing is worth that kind of risk. I remember a newspaper article that said there were lots of escalator accidents with them. So don't ever allow that.

Oh yeah, and they're made in China cheap.

I'd see if her parents would look into Stride Rite shoes

Those are a couple of water sandal options.

And yes, crocs are dangerous around escalators. I was wearing ballet flat crocs and got it stuck in an escalator. Mortifying and dangerous.

One of the children I used to take care of had an accident with his Crocs on an escalator. Thank God, other than some scrapes on his toes, he was ok, but the Croc was destroyed.
Crocs and children do not mix. If your children do wear Crocs, limit it to the pool or the beach.

Love them but only the fabric backed ones that stay well on the feet.

How old are your kids who wear them? Why do you like them in spite of the risks?

Just say no to Crocs!

Risk is a relative term. My kids are 3 and 5. They have been wearing them since 2. If they fit well, they are far better than other ill fitting shoes. Not all crocs are bad.
