I thought you have to get a license to do any paid care of an unrelated child in a home where the child doesn't live. |
It depends on your local laws. |
You're incorrect on the law....I'll see if I can find a post I wrote a while back. It has links explaining the laws. |

No, nanny shares are not illegal. Especially if there are only two children in the share. But if you read above, even if there ARE two or more children, as long as they are in the nanny's home or the home of one of the children, it isn't a child care center. |
If you provide paid care for a child outside of the child's own home (out of someone else's home), you are required to abide by the requirements of an in home daycare provider. These regulations are separate and different from "center" regulations.
The laws for these providers are much more burdensome in Maryland than in Virginia. Anyone know about DC laws? |
Not illegal, but MD requires a license. |
What do you mean? Thanks. |
What about the Maryland laws about this? |
Tax laws when when families and nannies reside in different states (DC, VA, MD)? |
Good question. Anyone know? |
what about the minimum wage law, when you're doing a nanny share? MoCo is 12.50. So you can't have either family paying less than that? |
"Requires a license" speaks for itself! |
Exactly. |
