What type of light housekeeping responsibilities should I expect the nanny to perform as a host family. Children are both 12&15 mo old and have regular naps.

Also how did you handle the cost of the double stroller with the other family.

Thanks in advance.

Seeing that you're getting super nanny who can do twins, if I were you, I'd be happy to get the house back as tidy as you left it.

One family buys the stroller (Craigslist). The other family could do something like pay for the background check.

Depending on naps, the nanny should do basic cleaning. Wiping down counters and the table/high chairs, putting things in the dishwasher, emptying a full dishwasher, washing bottles, one load of child's laundry a week

We expect our nanny to have the house in the same condition as when we left, so cleaning up after the kids but no other housekeeping. I should note though that she prepares simple meals, and we ask her to help with the kid's laundry. The kids are 12 & 24 months. Our nanny definitely struggles to keep things neat, and laundry seems to get done every other week, or we come home to find it in the dryer/washer. Kids nap at the same time for 1-3 hours a day.

We split the cost of the stroller 50-50 and plan to have one family pay the other if they want to keep it when the share ends, or give each family 50-50 from a Craig's list sale.

Nanny of twins plus their older sibling here. PLEASE buy a good stroller, such as a BOB. It really makes a TON of difference with 2 kids! I would suggest that each family chip in half and either can use it for various occasions when needed. When you are done working together you can sell it and split the difference or one can buy the other person out based on resale value. BOB has a great resale value and the model significantly changed after 2011, if you are looking to buy used.

Chores: I am able to do 3-4 loads of laundry in 3 days as well as all 3 meals. I am not responsible for any other household chores.

I Agree that the BOB is important to invest in.

I've been in two long term shares. I personally purchased my own stroller because the families seemed to have difficulties deciding on what to do and I didn't want to be stuck with some crappy umbrella stroller. Most families split the cost and either buys the other person out or sells it. Some families have strollers that turn into doubles like an uppababy or city select and just buy the extra seat.

As for chores, I maintain the house as is. I clean up after the children during our day together, prepare their meals and occasionally organize their toys. I do not do laundry or any other household chores. However, if the trash needs to be taken out or the dish washer loaded i will do it but its not my responsibility. Since you are hosting it is unfair to the other family for the nanny to be doing a number chores for you when they pay the same rate. Hosting outs you in a better position since you don't have to pack and drive your child anywhere. You can't get free housecleaning too without paying extra or lowering the nonhosting family's rate.

Thanks for the input keep it coming. This place is a great resource

I agree in a share the nanny should be expected to leave the house in the same (or better) condition at the end of the day and would be in charge of cleaning, tidying, and maintaining items like toys, strollers, and high-chairs. She should not be asked to do laundry (unless you're paying more per hour than the other family for the benefit of getting household chores done) or anything that doesn't benefit both families equally.

Our nanny actually wants us to get rid of the BOB. Too wide for tight spots like Metro.

My family has the BOB, and I love it. But when going in doorways it can be tight, luckily we drive most places outselves and the twins are now old enough to hold my hand and walk most places. I agree with PP, if you nanny is using public transit the BOB may not be the best option.

I am a professional nanny who was stupid enough to sign this contract. The other share family doesn't agree 100% with the list but won't say anything and my original family thinks this list of responsibilities is more than reasonable. I posted before about having an unpaid lunch break and generally being taken advantage of before and got great advice none of which I heeded, next week we are having a sit down to discuss me being burnt out and unhappy with my job. Cross your fingers for me. I also just hit submit on Amazon purchasing my own double stroller because the original family is stalling Family B regarding the purchase of a double stroller. Last nanny position before my degree is finished.

Split cost of stroller. Chores: baby laundry. Picking up the day's mess. Sweeping floors as needed. Loading dishes in dishwasher or washing them - just what is used with kids during the day. Essentially she should do kid laundry and also restore the house to whatever order you leave it in in the morning.
