I'm looking for a live in nanny starting in late July or early August until February (or later, negotiable). Rate is $225 a week (not including taxes and social security) We use a service where you need to register to be paid automatically or direct deposit)
-Nanny does not need to pay rent/utilities/food (unless you have special food you want to buy separate from what we have). You have your own room. You will share a bathroom on the top floor level. -Work will be a maximum of 40 hours a week, but it won't be that much always. Shift will depend on the week and my schedule, but I will go over it with you the week before (there may also be some last minute changes). Assuming that you will be able to meet the bus daily at 3 p.m. , You need to help with the boys with their homework (this is during the school year). I don't need help in the mornings unless I have a meeting I have to go to. In those case, you have to get the boys dressed and make lunch for them. -Light cleaning, laundry, keeping their rooms tidy, cleaning the bathroom and play area, and other housework associated with the kids are also needed to be done. -You should also prepare meals when I'm not home. The boys should help you in cleaning up. -You should also take the boys to assorted appointments like karate or camp during the summer. They have karate on Mondays and Fridays. On Saturdays, I will take them to the karate class unless we prearranged for you to do it instead. If you are interested, you can email me. Must love dogs and forts! |
Yes it's extremely low. You're offering a room with a shared bathroom and I'm assuming no private entrance. Not a desirable setup for most live-ins. You're also asking for full time hours with a varying schedule and household duties (most nannies do not scrub toilets and the ones that do expect a premium to do so). Your offer comes to $5.63/hour. Even live-ins are entitled to minimum wage and payment for all hours worked (minus the value of room and board which in your case shouldn't be much). You will not attract good candidates with this offer. Considering offering a regular schedule, and either raising your rate or lowering expectations. You might be able to find someone willing to taxi and supervise for your rate, but for real nanny duties you need to offer a real nanny rate. |
how can this rate not include taxes ?!?! |
MB here and yes, that sounds pretty low. $350/week with great benefits and short hours would be about the minimum I think anyone would be willing to take for a "real" position. |
+1 and that's with my own space, not sharing a bathroom with your kids and having no where to get away from you all. |
I would never take a position like that! I can do a basic work exchange (get my own LARGE bedroom on different floor plus private bath and have pets), and get other PT work for money, and earn the same amount you are willing to pay with only working half those hours. |
+1 Yup |
Where is the job? |
You should look into an Au pair. Weekly cost is similar, although the annual fee is 6-7,500. |
Slave labor, thanks. |
the job is in Alexandria . i saw this ad on care.com |
If I had the time, I'd track her down and report her for her illegal activity. |
No need to report her, OP seems to genuinely not know how this works and is at least trying to learn. Your rate is too low OP. Most live-ins make between $350-$500/week including room and board, and with the living scenario you describe, you'd need to offer on the higher end to make up for it. |
OP is not the person who posted the ad . i'm a nanny who saw this on care.com |
Would love to see this go down in the news. |
