I need some ideas of stuff I can do with a five year old who will be starting Kindergarten and his 7 month old sister (who's already crawling). The only thing is I'm not driving but I'm in Gaithersburg and not far from Metro. Like I thought of the zoo but MB was telling me its a lot of walking (uphill on way, downhill the next). Anyone else have any ideas?????Are there science project kits I can get online????? |
Anyone |
Give people more than thirty minutes to reply.
More questions marks doesn't make anyone want to answer faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (See what I did there?) Yes, the zoo is a lot of walking. Yes, there are science kits you can get online. What are you trying to find suggestions for? The 7 year old? Look at metro info. See what attractions are at each stop. |
OP there are tons and tons of websites that have ideas. Do your own homework. Try family fun go for starters. |
Why is everyone on this forum so negative about everything even about me asking about activities for a kid, I mean seriously. |
Because most nannies know how to entertain the kids they care for and it's a lot of common sense.
Baking, outdoor play, library, mall, play dates, pool, other social groups, parks. Google stuff in your area |
The only information you gave us was that the kid is entering kindergarten. How about a little more information? Boy? Girl? Any particular interests? Do you need only free things or can some of it cost money? Also, I'll tell you exactly what I tell me kids: stop whining. I don't listen to whining. |
If you are more than a block or two from the metro, I don't think that I would bother with the hassle of taking a 5 year old and 7 month old from Gaithersburg to the zoo. If you needed to take a bus to the metro, I would definitely forget this. Its a long trip. You'll need to be careful to plan potty trips to not hit while you're on the train. The 7 month old will need to nap in the stroller because the trip isn't worth it for just an hour or two in the morning. The 5 year old will need to be high energy to keep up with the walking (most 5 years do have the energy to do this but some may not). We live in Darnestown/Potomac area and drive into DC or drive to Shady Grove and then metro into DC on weekends frequently. Its a full day trip and we have difficulty getting back by 5, its usually at least 6 pm.
You could try going to Rockville Town Center first to see how easy the logistics of getting to the metro are with the kids. There is a library and in warmer weather a splash area in the center square. They also have kid activities in this area. |
She said his sister, denoting the kindergartner is a boy and the baby a girl...reading comprehension anyone? |
Thanks, skipped over that accidentally. ![]() |
