This is a nanny share. It will be a 2 month old and a 12 month old. Does anyone have experience with this age gap? I suspect it will be pretty rough to start out but could be good in 6 months or so. Thoughts? |
It'll be tough. Hire someone with good experience and who is comfortable wearing the little one (and let her choose the sling/carrier she wants to use - you buy it of course). Figure out how you feel about schedules - do you want someone who'll stay close to home to have the baby on a set schedule or someone who'll take the toddler out to lots of activities and expect the baby to adjust to that? Be sure you and the other set of parents are all on the same page with how you see things running day to day, and make sure to have 1-3 practice days with the nanny and at least one MB home to clarify those points. |
You definately want an experienced person. Listen carefully how she likes to plan her days. If you try to tell her, well, we don't need to go there. |
This is OP. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I'll be caring for both babies. Looking for some advice to make it run smoothly! |
Nobody? |
I care for a 12 month old and a 6 month old. Been with both since they were 2 1/2 months old. Once the baby is old enough make sure they share at least one nap a day. Your biggest issue is going to be routine and scheduling. Try to keep the schedule consistent for both and have as many naps/feeding at the same time. I would wear the infant as much as possible and set up two or three diaper changing stations around the house. Prepare all bottles and meals before hand. Basically you need to be very organized and have a great routine or its going to burn you out quick. |
