For making me work monday and tuesday when I was clearly sick with a terrible terrible coid. Now tomorrow you take off to St Barts with 2 kids, one of them with signs of starting to get sick. I do not wish sickness to children so I'm already fighting his cold the way I can BUT he might develop a cold and make your firsty few days of vacation miserable. I wish you can learn from that! Give your nanny sick days!!!! |
Agree! And what's sad is, these parents will probably find some way to blame you completely and take no responsibility for their selfish actions. |
She made you work?
Didn't you call in and say I'm sick and I don't want to risk getting your DC sick and ruin your trip.....oh you didn't ....I see. Totally the parents fault..... ![]() |
Huhn? Cold does not equal sick day. Dear lord I would miss well over a mon of work each yr with that rule. But I also am not phased when DCs get colds. They come with kid territory and should be 100pct expected both for kids and those caring for them. |
You're ridiculous, OP. Find a new job if this one sucks so badly. No one feels sorry for you. |
PP - shut up. OP is just telling other parents to stop being selfish having a sick chidcare provider come to work instead of taking a sick day. You're the ridiculous one. Troll. |
PP wasn't trolling, they were stating an opinion that was different than yours. Clearly OP was very ill earlier in the week, PRESUMABLY asked for a sick day and was denied (OP - if you didn't ask, it's your own damn fault and I won't feel bad for you), and came her to revel a little bit in what she sees as the karma of the situation: the kids catching her cold. It isn't the most dignified reaction but it's easy to understand, too. OP, I hope you and the kids all feel better soon. |
"very ill"? OP had a cold. OP are you a guy? only my DH is such a baby about having a cold. I know of no woman who would view having a cold as grounds for staying home "sick" in bed. |
Do you know the definition of troll? Clearly you don't. I was telling the OP to get over it. Sorry if you don't agree. |
My friend sent her nanny home last week when she turned up to work with a horrific cold. Sniffles are one thing, but there have been some nasty colds going around this year is all I'm saying. You could also be right that OP was overreacting, I have no way to tell. |
A horrible cold can be just as bad as the flu. Actually, I have had several colds over the years that HAVE been worse than some of the times I have had the flu. |
Hi, I'm OP, for those of you saying "it is just a cold", well, you must have never gotten a really bad cold. I had a swollen throat that gave me a cough episode every 10minutes, I was completely congested from my nose making it really hard to breathe, dark circles under my eyes, not my usual energetic self at all. Yes, I belonged in my bed and I am not a whiner I assure you.
My point was, when you MBs don't give your nanny sick days, then karma is a bitch and I was venting that now one of the kids is sick because they were selfish enough to keep me going (even tho I was washing my hands like crazy and using purell all the time). Dad was home!! Didn't even offer me to go rest/take a break for a while! So nowwww, go to your trip to the beach with a sick kid by yourselves. And thank you to the girls that actually got what the point of my post was! |
OP, I hope you feel better. My old employers used to make me come in to work when I had the flu and other contagious illnesses. Some people are stupid. |
How do your employers "make" you go to work? |
I would tell them I was sick and they would say they needed me to come in. Simple as that. I had paid sick days but when DB was out of town for a week, I had no choice but to go in since they had no back up. |
