Gift ideas for MB birthday

I am wondering if I should buy mb a gift for her bday? I have only been working for this family for 3 months so maybe something handmade for her from the kids is more appropriate? Handprint art or something. What do you do for your mb bday?

Don't buy her a gift, from experience I can say most parents will be gracious, but feel very awkward about it.

I would DEFINITELY make a gift for her "from the charges", especially if they are young. Maybe a t-shirt if she's into that kind of stuff? Make "flowers", their handprints will be the petals, and feet the leaf.

MB here. My nanny gave me b'day gifts and they were lovely, and thoughtful, but yes - I felt very awkward about it. I think helping the kids make a gift is a lovely idea and I would appreciate the thought and effort that goes into that as much as any gift (and I'd feel more comfortable accepting it also.)

Honestly, give me the gift of taking the kids out of the house, so I can take a bubble bath, nap and have sex with DH. That would be the best present.
