So on my FB I'm part of a nanny group and they posted - something about how did you help you family and charges adjust to the time change.
Personally - I did nothing. We are on the same schedule only an hour later (except for those dang few clocks we still have to change). my charges are babies - 9 months so no school or classes. I actually have been working since Saturday night. MB and DB went out of town. So I got to do the whole time change thing. Anyone else? Did you keep the same schedule (just now later according to the clocks) or did you adjust and keep your schedule (childs schedule not working) the same. Hope everyone is enjoying their Mondays ![]() Nanny in SoCal |
Was the time change really that big a deal? What do you mean you "got to do the whole time change thing"? Who cares? |
Wow!! And you are the reason people are leaving this board! Do me a favor. Go get the stick out of your ass than come back and post here. Really rudeness is just awful. What are you god?!?! Are you god of these posts or boards!?! Someone needs a hug and a hobby. |
Spring is much easier for us than fall. The first day they slept in a bit but otherwise we converted over on Sunday and they went to sleep at the same bedtime (per the clock). Poorer than usual naps likely helped. Wake up time this morning was around about normal per clock time. In fall it is way harder but that is because my children get up at the crack if dawn normally so in fall it just gets even worse. |
The 1YO's appetite has been a little off since the time change - he won't eat at mealtimes but wants to stuff himself at snack time - but thankfully sleeping has been on track! |
I've just been doing the same routine w/ my charge. He slept in until 9:00 this AM and took a 3 hour nap which is VERY out of character! He'll be back to normal in a day or 2. |
That's really cute, seeing as I only post on here maybe once every two weeks. |
Was the PP's comment THAT mean?? All he/she said was "who cares".. Yeah, it was kinda condescending but not over the top rude. You people are way to sensitive. Get a grip! it's the Internet, people will be more rude then normal. |
By the way, sorry if I hurt anyone's little feelings. I honestly don't see how an hour time change is a huge deal. like, at all. |
It affects people differently, especially kids. The last boy I nannied for took a week to get back on track (meaning, on schedule and not CRANKY) - long transition that was! |
My charges from either family had no issues, and neither did I.
I go to sleep late, so I just changed the time early Sunday morning before going to bed, and looked at the time and saw how late it had become with losing the hour. I went to sleep basically an hour early. Next day, no problems. We had a long day Sunday since my charge had a birthday party that went all afternoon (2 part party with cooking lesson making lunch and then adults and a few more kids showing up later on with cake and presents). I have never had any issues with kids, the only thing is that time seems to go a bit faster that first day. By day 2, it is back to normal. |
MB here - 1 yo. was up for 3 hours past bedtime last night - we put her in bed on time and she would not fall asleep. I know her nanny is fantastic with her, but I do feel for her dealing with a cranky, overtired toddler. Not sure if it's time change related, teething, milestones, or perhaps a sign of needing to drop a nap. We'll work with her nanny to figure it out! |
Totally with you. I don't know how it affects people so drastically. What is there to "do"? Change any manual clocks, maybe... Otherwise it's just a shift but if the schedule stays the same it shouldn't really affect a BABY. |
Have you ever tried putting a baby down for his/her nap an hour early or late?!? It is rarely smooth sailing, assuming all other factors are the same. This is exactly the same. |
I remember it being more difficult when my charges were younger. Now? I didn't do anything different during the day. Though bed time is apparently more difficult.
Guess we'll have to do some mega wearing-out after nap time! ![]() |
