I actually think it's funny. Mind you, they're talking about a cheap nanny, not a professional nanny. You get what you pay for. What do you expect?

Wow.

Just wow. The writer of this "article" sounds very bitter and insecure. How does she know how nannies feel if she hasn't employed one.

I LOVE my charges, and I don't sit on the couches eating Cheetos all day. What a bitch!

Wow that article is infuriating.. I actually think I'm a great nanny and so do MB & DB and I legitimately enjoy spending time with my charge and keeping her entertained and educated. There are a LOT of great nannies out there!!!

You people need to simply learn the difference between professional nannies and sitters. That's all.

That article makes me sad. People joke about it on here, but I really do feel bad for that woman and her child(red). She has a lot of misplaced anger.

Re: The Drano thing. Well, shouldn't she be a good mom and lock up the Drano?

Re: Husbands leaving. In the stories I've heard (which, let's face it, are mostly Lifetime movies) the husband isn't leaving just because the nanny is hot. He leaves because the wife is a shrew and he sees a younger woman caring for his children in a motherly way.

If you click on the author's name it shows other articles she's written

She used to be a comedian.

My impression is that she can't afford a nanny and deep inside she resents the fact that her child is in daycare, the bottom of the childcare rank. She needs to convince herself and others that nannies are a bad choice. She doesn't realize that her kid is getting less attention, and if she thinks something can't happen in daycare she really needs to look on YouTube and watch those awful videos on daycare abuse/accidents.

Atleast families who employ nannies can have an opportunity to see their nanny on video, which is forbidden in Daycares.

And does she honestly think daycare works don't get 'bored' with their jobs? I'm sure they have kids play all day while they do their own thing.

Not true. Many daycares have all day streaming video for the parents.

That is a crappy thing to say. While quite a few people wouldn't consider me with the type of work that I do to be a professional nanny, and say that I am only a sitter (since I only work PT and mostly after school care), I ALWAYS take my job seriously and act professional about it. I haven't read this blog post yet, but to say that is what you get when you hire a sitter is not valid. There is low quality work from both nannies and sitters alike, but it doesn't mean that there isn't the opposite of that as well, some great nannies/sitters that treat their jobs like a real one (not just easy money) and love what they do.

PP, IMO that makes you a nanny.

A sitter is paid to be a warm body who will be responsible enough just in case of emergencies. A nanny is paid for their dependability and for their ability to nurture the children, come up with creative activities, and generally be a professional caregiver. The number of hours or the time of day worked is not the determining factor.
