I woke up this morning with one of my eyes itchy, sore and red. Could this be some sort of pink eye? I have never had any kind of eye allergies, so I don't think it could be that. My question is do you think I should notify my MB before I go into work this morning? If it is pink eye I know it can be very contagious and I would hat for the kids to get it. I'm just not sure I should notify her or not, I can of course still work but I don't want to show up a blood shot eye and have her wondering what is going on. It just looks really bad, I was shocked when I looked in the mirror this morning.

Yes you need to give her a heads up so she can decide if she wants you to come in our not.

Sounds just like pink eye, that you usually catch from kids. Tell mb you're going to get checked out by a doctor. If you start a prescription today, maybe you can go back to work tomorrow.

This mentality is highly disturbing. If you hired an adult, you should support her confidence level, to make her own obvious medical decisions.
I'd have to laugh if you'd expect your own grownup child, to call up her boss to ask if she should come to work with these symptoms.
Lol.

Op here and I ended up just putting drops in my eye and going to work. I don't have paid sick days and I really need the money. Thanks for the comments though. The redness went down after I put the drops in. Still itchy and sore but I'll make sure I wash my hands a lot and then figure it out this weekend. The kids seem fine and I really don't know where I could have gotten pink eye if not from them. Maybe I just got something in it or scratched it.

This is what happens when you do not give your nanny paid sick days. This nanny very likely has pink eye but is willing to convince herself its nothing, go to work, and infect your children! What goes around truly does come around.

Another well calculating MB.

To me, the most concerning part of pink eye is the oozing, which OP doesn't list as one of her symptoms. I'd also be less concerned about it spreading from an adult than from a kid. I trust an adult to make sure they don't touch their eye much and wash their hands a lot. I don't quite have the same faith in a small child

So I think you were right to go to work. Just make a doctors appt and make sure whether or not it's pink eye and you can probably get it cleared up over the weekend.

Op here and it's still sore and itchy but it isn't oozing and I didn't have crusty eyes this morning when I woke up. Hopefully I don't have it, crossing my fingers.

OP, I hope you don't have pink eye. But please don't let the kids touch your face, please wash your hands after every time you touch your face. Pink eye may take a day or two to fully develop. It's transferred to another person when you touch them after having touched your eye.

I got it ONCE, and managed to only have it in one eye by rarely touching my eyes, not letting the tissue from one eye touch the other eye, and washing my hands a LOT.
