DB leaving soda bottles with chewing tobacco within baby's reach... RSS feed

My DB chews tobacco and spits it into soda cans and bottles and leaves them around the house constantly. The 1 yr old gets into everything he can reach, and several times now has tried to drink out of these bottles and cans before I've noticed them in time to throw them out. Today there was one hidden behind the couch and my charge dumped the contents all over the carpet. How do I address this with MB and DB? Not only is it gross and a pain to deal with, but if my charge does take a dswig he could get really sick, and that concerns me greatly.

I would up upfront about the situation. "Mark, there have been several times now where Little Joey has stumbled upon your tobacco spit and has almost taken a sip of it before I was able to get it out of his hands. I worry about him drinking some of it and getting sick." At first I wouldn't directly ask for him to keep them away from the babies reach but I would let him know that it was an issue and see where he takes it from there. After hearing this any reasonable parent would keep the bottles up higher or where baby cannot get them.
