I am looking for someone/somewhere to learn CPR and my Au Pair will need hers renewed in two months. Should we go together? Should I pay for it for us both? Do you think I can bring my daughter to the class so I don't have to pay someone else to watch her?

Does anyone have experience with this and know what is fair to do?

An alternative to having the nanny (and you) go outside of the home is to have a CPR instructor come to your home, possibly while you are both there so you can receive training as well. That's what I did. My sleep consultant (who is a life saver, btw) is an instructor and she came to my home with my new nanny and trained us both! It was great because we both learned CPR, my son was there, and I was already paying the nanny for her to watch my son, so I didn't have to pay for the class and for her to attend it.

How much did you have to pay for the person to come teach the class in your home? and how long was it?

Since she knew me and my family already from sleep consults, she may have given me a deal but it was $120 for me, my husband, and my nanny. Usually they are at least 60 per person in an office but this was a house call and it was great! I think it took 2 or 3 hours. She might give you the same rate, if you mention my posting on DCUM (I'm Sara) she said I can give out her email:luciana@dcbabycoach.com. hope this helps!

Hello, this is Luciana.

Thank you Sara for spreading the word about my services. I offer American Heart Association (the gold standard of CPR training) Friends & Family, Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid, and Healthcare Provider CPR/AED. The Friends & Family is geared toward parents and family members. Heartsaver is more in depth and results in a 2-year certification card which is ideal for child care providers, teachers, etc. The Healthcare Provider course is for nurses, doctors, nursing assistants, medical students, etc. and results in a 2-year certification card. For Sara I taught Friends & Family, which did not re-certify her nanny with a card, but she is a long-term nanny with that family so the card was not necessary for her at the time.

Pricing and such is at my website dcbabycoach.com under services:CPR. Feel free to personally e-mail me for any further questions.
