Just want to bring some positivity to the forums, maybe then we can quit with the "entitled nanny" threads.
Today I took my charges to the zoo, I honestly think I had more fun with them than I've had in a very long time. I looked at them and was just amazed at how much they've grown, and how lucky I am to be apart of their lives. The youngest is becoming very verbal, I've been trying to keep up with his words and his at about 50+ words (mostly nouns, a few verbs and adjectives) and he's only 16-months. He is such a smart boy, wild, but smart. He had a ball just running around the kids area, wasn't to keen on the animals quiet yet but loved the environment. The twins however, they totally came out of their shell. I don't think I've ever heard the girls talk so much, usually they are very timid in crowd situations but they were so excited about the animals they became social butterflies. Of course all the lions were named Simba or Nala, and we wondered why their wasn't a dinosaur exhibit (extinct is too sad sensitive three-year-olds). Most amazingly no one threw a fit, no one had a pee or poop accident, no one got hurt it was just a great day. Any other nannies want to sure the positivity? |
The kids birthday was this past week. Mb took the day off but asked me to come in and hang out with them for the day. We took her to the playgroup I usually take the kids to. It was nice that she got to expierence what our day looks like. We finished with a trip to the park then out for a nice lunch. Home for the kids naps and then cupcake making in the afternoon. It was a wonderful day!
I later told my bf... Today I was payed to go out for lunch, chat with my boss and make cupcakes with my favourite kids.... I LOVE my job ![]() |

I feel this way about my charges every day. They constantly amaze me, make me laugh, and show me how much they love me. There is nothing like teaching the little ones how to write/read/do things on their own and seeing their reactions to the positivity. Their eagerness to learn/please is amazing and inspiring. They teach me things and make my day every single day. I love them unconditionally, and I am lucky to love MB and DB as well. |
Thanks for this post. I am so in love with the little guy I take care of. I've been his nanny since he was born and we have such an awesome connection! My MB, DB, and I have an awesome relationship also. I live-in which has potential to be bad...seriously we all hear the horror stories but I could not have been blessed with a better family to work for. I am SO content at this point in my life and my charge makes me so happy. I love seeing him grow every day and making new memories with him. I feel as though they will be a part of m life forever. |
Yes! I've been very lucky to score great nanny jobs for the last decade, but my current family is something special. With four kids, it's by far the hardest i've ever worked, but so worth it! We clicked right away and I have a special bond with the kids that's even deeper than my past beloved charges. I miss them on weekends and secretly love when the older ones stay home sick from school (I love the staying home part, not the sick part). My bosses go out of their way to show me I'm appreciated and I go out of my way to help their lives run as smoothly as possible. We're a really great match and I hope to be with them as long as possible. |
Great thread, OP. Last week I had lunch with a grown up former charge and her mom. It's the satisfying thing in the world, to see the fruits of your labor. |
I loved my last nanny job too. The kids were great. I was with them for 7 years and now they are 18 and 20 and we still see each other a couple of times a year.
( They were 1 and 3 when I started) Im not a nanny anymore but I do miss it. |
So nice to hear your stories! ![]() |
It's so nice to hear that other nannies see past charges!!!
I was a live in for 4 children for 8yrs and still see them about twice a week (we are neighbors actually). The youngest is now 12 & when I started MB was pregnant with him. The older 3 - 2 are just in college and the 3 a senior in hs. I love them all to death! My newest charges are so wonderful. I've only been with them for 5 months but they are so cute (twin babies) MB and I were looking at old photos of them when I started - they have grown so much. Just the other day I was feeding them avocado and one baby sneezed sending mashed avocado all over me! I just cracked up laugh causing both babies (they are 8mths) to belly laugh which made me laugh even more! They have grown so much (as babies do in the first year). And MB just texted me that she sees a tooth bud in one babies mouth ![]() They are growing and changing everyday I love it! I love when I walk in in the mornings and they both smile and giggle. I love when they discover something new and exciting (even when they discovered they could scream). Being a nanny has challenges yes but the rewards out weigh any challenges by far. |
I felt the need to bump this post, too much negativity on the forum as of now.
My oldest 2-year-old charge is starting to use complete sentences! Today she told me "I made a big mess!" as clear as a bell, so proud! |
I love the little "adult" things the little ones do. Going to grab a tissue and "blowing her nose" then throwing it out. Just too cute. So many things that are just the sweetest |
