I hear of so many nannies that stay with their families for years. However, I have found through my experience I am so much better suited to caring for ages newborn though age 2. I just delight in these ages so much! Is it awful though that from preschool age on up, I don't get as excited? I actually think the younger ages require more work, but I find it so much more rewarding at those rapid stages of development. I was so much more excited to go to work when I cared for that age than I do now with older kids. Is this going to make it harder for me stay in this career? |
No, but you need to be prepared to search for a new job every couple of years. Most people like to stay with their job, if they can, because it provides financial stability. But if you are ok with looking for a new position every couple of years, go for it. |
I'm a 0-2 nanny, and I love it. It allows me to really dig deep and "specialize" in baby and toddler care and parents are willing to pay a premium for that (in my experience anyway). It's a little unsettling to know you'll have to job hunt again so soon, but it's not as bad as you might think |
