17-month-old still on (puréed) baby food and formula (with bottle). RSS feed

I'm a nanny for two toddlers, and recently started watching MB friends son, twice a week for about 6 hours a day. He is 17-months-old and I was surprised to find out that he only eats baby food (like step 1 and 2) and still drinks formula from a bottle. He is a big boy, so I don't think he's malnourished or anything, I just find this so odd. MB said that he choked on bread when he was about 10-months-old, to the point he lost consciousness for a few minutes. They aren't sure of any brain damage, but he also isn't walking, but shows no interest...won't even stand if I hold his hands up. I asked the parents if he's been to a swallow therapist, and they said he hasn't. They just didn't want him on solids. I respect their wishes of course, but could this be damaging to his development?

It's good that you show a concern. If I were you I would just document any milestones he makes and open a line of communication with the MB. It sounds to me like there are some developmental delays. If its their first child, they could be in denial or possibly ignorant.
