Been working for a wonderful family for 4 months. I am a 24/5 nanny, 110 hours a week. I work for an extremely wealthy family. The baby nurse whom I took over for, received a $20,000 bonus, after only working there for 3 months. I know she received this amount because both her and the agency that we used disclosed this information. Since I started, I have worked every holiday, without extra pay, and I just came with them on an 10 day vacation without extra pay. I have not recieved any gift or bonus yet. I know I sound entitled, but I am just wondering if they haven't given me anything because I'm Jewish? I am containtly complimented on going over and beyond my duties. I earn an ok amount for a 24hr nanny, $325 a day (NYC). The baby nurse made double. No gifts too? Bummer ![]() |
I assume the baby nurse got the $20K at the end of her time with the family, not because it was Christmas? They are probably waiting for your anniversary to give you a bonus. I would keep doing a great job until then. |
If the family acknowledges that you are going above and beyond, I agree with PP, just keep doing a great job. The family may be waiting for your birthday or your anniversary with them. I doubt this has to do with being Jewish. FWIW, I received a holiday bonus from the family I work for and they knew I'm Jewish yet didn't give it to me until after Christmas. |
You make $1,625 a week for one kid. Stop complaining. |
You've only been there for 4 months. Keep doing good work and you will surely earn a bonus!
(I wouldn't believe that $20k bonus amount you were quoted for a 3month baby nurse. Sounds fake.) |
completely !! |
They should be paying you for working holidays and vacation days extra. |
I would assume it's coming at another time and keep up the good work.
And I would ignore the PP's who have no idea about NYC and its extremes when it comes to nannies & baby nurses. |
She said she works 24/5, that only comes to $13.54/hr. OP, the cretins you work for are cheating you. |
Your paycheck is your bonus. They are wealthy, not you. If you want to be wealthy, sounds like its time to find a new line of work. |
yes but still..she takes home $1,600/week which is $84,500/year. Sorry..don't feel bad for her. |
She also works what, like 110 hours per week if I remember correctly? It's not like she is getting a great hourly rate and even working 70 hours which is an insane amount normally. Her pay rate is hideous for the number of hours she has to be available. |
+1 |
I agree with previous poster. Your rate is not that high for the hours worked. Usually that type of position, a nice bonus is common. I know with the agency I worked with, they said with every position there would be a end of year bonus- they of course didn't say how much. Did they give you a Hunnukah present? |
STFU already. You're boring. |
