I have 3 charges, 19mo, and 4yr old twins. I was wondering what everyone's day is like? I can't really take the kids anywhere until the older ones weigh enough to fit in smaller booster seats, since my SUV doesn't have third row seating, so I was wondering what everyone's schedule looks like. Do you maintain a schedule that's more structured, or do you just let things happen? As far as free play time, structured play, learning activities, art, etc. Any insight into how the day goes would be good! Trying to make a schedule that works for us and keeps the kids busy. |
Shouldn't the four year olds be in preschool? |
Whether they should or shouldn't be is irrelevant to the question. |
Preschool isn't compulsory... |
I try and take advantage of the weather when I can. My charges are happier overall if they get out in the fresh air.
Morning: breakfast, get dressed, a little indoor play. Leave for the park or playground. Come home for lunch or have a picnic at the park down for naps by 1pm, they sleep til around 4pm snack, play inside parents home by 5 |
My charge is 17 months old. We have a routine but its not set in stone and we tend to go with the flow. My day starts around 8am and ends at 5:30
Morning: Attend a music class, local story time or do an activity at home. Have a snack. Go to park or for a walk weather permitting. Nap around 9/10am for 30-60 minutes. Afternoon: Free play, read books and do flash cards, eat lunch, play some more. Second nap around 1/2pm for 30-90 minutes. Snack after nap if lunch wasn't big. Late afternoon/early evening: Go for a walk in stroller. Prepare dinner. Dance around to music and play with instruments. Sometimes I bathe him if I'm asked to. Same with feeding dinner. |
OP here. They just turned 4, so they're only in preschool 2 days for 3hrs each. They were 3 when they started so they weren't eligible for 5 day preschool. |
We have a schedule that is there but has wiggle room for the "just incase" times.
I take care of 5.5 month old twins. They eat every 4 hours during the day, but sleep all night. So they get 4 bottles a day of 8oz. I arrive at 8 & they are sleeping. I'll give a general time schedule - sometimes it works sometimes we are off. 8Am I arrive. Babies napping. I start dishwasher and any laundry 8:15 both up from nap. Change diapers, dress for day. We play together and independent. Tummy time, stories, songs. 10 we go on a walk, sometimes to a local coffee shop(MB wants them to know about restaurants - fine by me. I love it) or just around neighborhood. 11 bottles 11:15 diapers and nap. Now I can finish laundry, dishwasher and prepping formula. Also I eat lunch 1:30 up from nap, diapers We play again-songs, bouncers, tummy time, mirror time, etc 3 bottles and diapers 345 walk and last nap (morning and afternoon nap are usually cat naps) 445 home floor play, MB comes home I leave at 5. |
