Post here if you are with me on this. |
I'm with you. I feel like there will be way too much to keep track of here, and there will be so many duplicate threads, or threads with the exact same question/situation because a lot of things are universal, not region specific. |
Give it a chance, guys. It's been what, an hour? |
I agree; I'm not in DC, and I won't be using this forum after this post. |
I'm with you. I don't like this either. I guess I'll just post my nanny questions on the general parent forum. |
They will be deleted. |
That was a harsh response. |
I think this is great. I think there is potential to share a lot of information with people from across the country. The only thing I'm not sure about is why there are separate regions. |
I think it's a great idea that could be a great resource if the nannies from outside of the md/dc/va forums quit thinking about it as though they are being "kicked out" and instead realized that having more nanny specific forums and regional specific forums is actually quite helpful! You have an opportunity to help shape a whole new community- personally I like that idea! Change sucks, many of us from the "OLD" DCUM disliked or hated the change to the new software and having lost years of posts that are in the archived forums. Once people quit complaining and embraced it it turned into the DCUM that some (or many) of you started with. Change is good and keeps the world moving forward.
Besides, with all the negativity on the DC forum... Frankly, this one is a fresh start. Why start it off with negativity and complaining? It actually takes work to run these forums- handling all the technical issues/etc. it's not a small undertaking that Jeff & Maria would launch simply to try and get out of area nannies off the DC forum. |

+10000 Let's actually work to keep this forum professional and helpful. It would be so nice to have a place to exchange ideas, get advice, etc with having other posters scream TROLL every 5 seconds or complain about "entitled nannies" who have questions about fair wages. I'm actually really excited about this. Thanks Jeff! |
I hope it works. |
Agree! I would really like to see this become a true resource instead of the flame war going on between parents and nannies in the old nanny forum. I started coming here for advice and it sucks that I am often discouraged from posting for fear of being called entitled, greedy, or a myriad of expletives. Thanks Jeff! |
This weekend is a bit crazy, but I would be happy to post some resources that Jeff could use as permanent posts for FAQs like tax questions, work agreements, etc. I have pretty wide network of nannies throughout the country that have info on support groups, conferences, and the like. |
That would be great. One note of caution, however. Please pay attention to copyright issues. Most material on other websites will be covered by copyright and we don't want to violate that. But, if you have information that you are free to publish, it would be very useful here. |
