Want to do the right thing - time to separate

I agree with the poster that suggested four weeks notice. I think that is very fair and if you can afford a little bit of a bonus, that would probably help her with the transition.

I'd also like to add that you sound like a great employer. I have a very similar position and have been with the family in various capacities for almost 20 years.

I was just informed that my hours were being reduced more than half or they'd have to let me go. Zero notice and most familes have already hired for the upcoming school year. It's very stressful.
