No, op. I don't do things out of my job description. Grow a spine.

You’re not really working, you’re sleeping there so that you don’t need to wake up too early tomorrow. If you don’t want to stay, just say it’s no problem to wake up early, thank you very much, I’ll sleep at home.

She is staying overnight for their convenience and you pay me for that and driving you to airport. I do not work for free any more than you work for free. It is also a major inconvenience for me to stay at her house. OP, tell her that you will be paid your normal hourly wage or she can take a cab.

Please stop letting people take advantage of you, because they’ll be in for a shock when a professional nanny refuses to anything outside of their job description.

I totally agree!! The only reason that she offered you to stay overnight wasn't to make it easy for you but rather to avoid any chances for her to be drop of late at the airport.

I agree. Staying overnight is FOR THEIR convenience! Only stingy families would drop that famous line "you are not working during that time" forgetting that it is always an inconvenience to the nanny to be sleeping in a bed that isn't hers. They easily forget that we have a life too. To disturb our life to make theirs confortable as a cost too!

Your response needs reflection on your part and less self absorption. A nanny staying at her employer's home will be always be an inconvenience!! You enjoy your home for the very same reasons that she enjoys hers!!! Ridiculously selfish.

I think the family was thinking of it as a convenience. If it is not decline the offer. I would not expect to be paid for the overnight.

No, you are an ugly woman. You post here frequently and it’s always the same aggressively insecure edicts and judgements. You constantly call nannies doormats and nowyou’re attacking the US military!

Np I disagree. Mom boss doesn't want op to be late to pick her up and drive to airport. It is convenient for her. Slerping at her boss's house isn't done for her benefit.

I would back out and tell them you can no longer drive. Mske up a family emergency.

I am rarely on here. I am not attacking the military. My sister is in the military. I said the employer is probably military because they're used to moving and asking people for rides. OB isn't a cab driver. A good family would know not to ask for a ride. Even when I was low income, I didn't do stuff like that. I don't think they were planning on paying OP, by the way. They wanted a free ride; otherwise, they would call uber.

The drive/day is over. However, most military are pretty independant so your comment makes no sense.

Our nanny has driven us to the airport and picked us up, paid at her regular rate from time she gets to house. Usually helps kids and us get out the door-drives us in our car. She often comes back and tidies up. All that is on the clock. If for an early flight and she stays overnight, was never paid for the overnight part as it was more for her convenience and optional.

If its unclear if you're even getting paid to drive them, maybe opt out? They could take an Uber/Lyft.
