Tons of people don’t have a lunch break . What do you think doctors and nurses do ? A nanny is entitled to a 20-30 minute break to eat and use the bathroom . Loosely watching your kids is acceptable for this time as most professional parents can’t take breaks from their work to relieve the nanny . Some nannies do seem to push the line and take extremely long breaks . An hour isn’t really reasonable and it seems like you are dissatisfied with her overall laziness throughout the day . It may be time to find a new nanny . |
I've never been paid for a lunch break as a salaried or hourly employee. What industry do you work in? |
Eh... doctor here. I always have a lunch break. All the docs in my practice do too and so do our nurses and PA’s. And so does our nanny. |
You’re a doctor ? How is your nanny able to take a lunch break if you’re in clinic ? Only when your child is napping . Older children don’t nap .
I’m also a doctor and I don’t get a lunch break . I eat quickly between seeing patients , something from my pocket , big whoop life goes on . |
When I nannied, I always ate with the kids while they were eating lunch. That was our lunch time. Even when you are spoon feeding a baby, you can eat yourself. What is the nanny doing while the kids are eating? |
I’m in private practice, Dr., and everyone in our practice gets a lunch break. Our nanny does too when our baby is napping and preschooler is doing his reading/quiet time. You actually eat something from your pocket after treating patients? |
You out food in your pocket and eat and then see patients. Disgusting. |
Are you ok?? Like seriously; are you ok. Your payment of a service doesn't entitle you to mistreatments. Do you really thing that being sitting in your home while keeping an eye on your children is a break?? |
Ok, then the parent should come relive nanny so she can “clock out” and go to lunch. Some parents want their cake and eat it too— you don’t want the nanny to have the same benefits as any other occupation but then turn around and compare a nanny’s role to other employee. Nanny’s get breaks when they can and it’s not always at the same time each day. |
