Why would someone match with an aupair who needs to travel to another country to get a visa?

With APIA, they wouldn’t allow an Aupair in rematch to match with families who weren’t in rematch themselves (no extension or new families). It made a lot of Aupairs and families upset but this is exactly the reason for the rule. They didn’t want an Aupair rematching to shop around for a new family or an extension family.


There are no restrictions for NIE families. And those rules don’t matter bc the APs go in FB and say they are “friendly rematch”. Find another family, and then announce to then ask for rematch from their current HF

I think you're misinformed. Sure, a family can switch at any point in time, but they lose whatever fee they already paid to the agency. And APs can't switch agencies.

Families can register with multiple agencies at once and pick the agency of the AP who they meet on FB. And most agencies don't care if the lose whatever fee they lose, b/c they are still making $$ off of NIE families. I think YOU are misinformed

What I've seen is that families ARE NOT with a particular agency, will look on FB to find the girl they want, and then register with that agency once they have agreed upon a match. Some may say " prefer APIA" or whatever because they are registered and paid the $40 bucks or whatever but "area willing to swap for the right fit".

The au pairs can find whatever family they want on the FB group and then rematch whenever, no questions asked.

Had an old neighbor who is in her 60s and always used au pairs when hey children werev little. I was telling her about this terrible situation and she said that in her day, it was illegal to offer ANY perks so that the playing field was level. There was no incentive for rematch from au pair for more money, vacation, etc. She said what we are describing was the "nanny wars" of nannies asking for more because their friend down the road got "x" for "y" hours, etc. She said that's why they left nannies to go to au pairs.

I think from my own personal experiences, I have decided not to be loyal to any particular agency b/c they certainly don't care about us HF (and APs for that matter). They are only concerned with agencies.

Families can list themselves with multiple agencies prior to making a match, sure. But as I said, if they switch agencies after matching with one AP, they lose whatever fee remains.

Agencies don't lose any money on families switching instead of finding a rematch. In fact, they retain a good portion of the money.

APs can't switch once they have their visa that lists one agency. They're stuck with that agency until they return to their home country, then they can choose a different agency for a return trip two years later. However, most APs don't come back for a second time. If they want more time, they extend through the same agency that brought them to the US.

Brazilian aupairs seem to be having the most difficult time matching right now and can't travel. I'm not sure where aupairs are still arriving from but it's definitely not Brazil.

I find it surprising that anyone would want to come here right now. Other than lack of employment in their home country, what would motivate someone to come here? I wouldn't think it's to attend fabulous virtual english courses from the local community college.

NIE rematches are definitely happening!!!! The companies don't care. It's a way to get visas right now. The entire process is broken and unethical.

I see listings where the Brazilian applicants are saying they will go to Chile but they can't say they know anyone who has successfully done that and been able to travel here. More financial risk for the HF to take on so the applicants can have their dream year. If you log into Bambino, you will find all of the aupairs that arrived here last year who now nanny undocumented for less than what it costs to host an aupair.

and agencies are fine as long as they get their coins. CC is apparently paying for the banned European au pairs to get their visas in another country

This rematch immediately into the country is rampant with Mexican au pairs too, not just Brazilian. Mexico is easily giving visas as well.

How is not blatantly obvious to people that the current aupairs are just here for visas? And why doesn't it matter to parents? Cheap childcare? It's not even that cheap.
