PP quoting myself - also, if you plan to keep a nanny for longer than a year, she will expect a raise annually; and a holiday bonus of at least a week's pay; and at least two weeks paid vacation; and you'll be paying taxes/unemployment insurance; and additional homeowners insurance/car insurance. And we had to run weekly payroll, which we did through an online company. I'm not suggesting that a nanny shouldn't get these things, but it is expensive to hire a nanny and most people don't think about all these "extras" when setting the annual salary.

Sorry about the multiple posts -- the last few words should be "hourly rate" not "annual salary".

If you trust and like someone already I would honestly give it a try and at least ask if she's interested
