Gift for extraordinary nanny RSS feed

We have given our nanny cash (seriously, cash is king), very nice jewelry from Tiffany’s (after inquiring around about what she would want and looking at what she wore), a new iPhone X, a new iPad (for FaceTiming now that we’re apart), a fancy purse when her older one was ruined (not by our kids, thankfully!), and gift cards to specific places we knew she wanted to buy things from. An Apple Watch is a great idea!

Apple watches are great gifts for nannies. They remove the need/excuse to be on the phone.

You sound like a very wonderful employer.

I would likely have my child make her a homemade “Thank You” card.
And perhaps some baked goods such as cookies or cupcakes.

Or a token of self-treatment such as a body wash/lotion/fragrance mist gift set.

Who wants cookies or cupcakes or a homemade card from a kid. This is just more crap to throw away. Give her a gold locket with all your pics. It is meaningful and not just more junk.

I have to disagree w/this.
I would love to receive a homemade card from my Nanny Child.
I am a Nanny & in fact have kept many cards over the years that I definitely do not consider “junk.”

It seems many people here who responded have “champagne” tastes.
I am more simple, I suppose.

I keep 2-3 things from each child. Some are displayed, some are in a scrapbook. I can’t keep everything, but I appreciate each and every picture I’m given.

The first kids I nannied for were boy girl twins. They were so adorable. We live in this wonderful neighborhood with lots of flowers and trees. One day I was just talking about how my car had broken down and I wasn't sure how I could afford to fix it. The next day one of them (I won't say which one cuz they both would have done it) gave me a penny that they had found somehwere and they thought it would help me. I still have that penny and those kids are in college.

Recently, on Mother's Day, my mother and I gave my grandmother new shower curtains. We decided to make them to order with a cat print, because she loves them very much. And we hung them in the shower while she was in the kitchen. We didn't tell her about it, she found out about it when she went to take a shower in the evening. She immediately called us in tears and thanked us for the surprise. It seems like a small thing, but it's nice. You can find more print curtains. It is necessary to make such gifts to native people more often, and not only on holidays. And it doesn't have to be expensive.

CASH inside of a card is good enough for me.

Anonymous wrote:Our nanny has always been wonderful but during this lockdown, with DH and I both working from home, me going through intense morning sickness, and DC losing all planned activities and play groups, our lovely nanny has been extraordinary.

Cash bonus, of course, but we’d also like to give her a gift of appreciation.

Any ideas?

more M.O.N.E.Y,

She already has enough photos of your kids. Needs no more spa cards. Money and an extra two weeks paid vacation of her choosing.
