I received a pay stub every week so I thought they were being withheld. I am a US citizen I am appealing. I'm just not sure how long that will take. I'm just lucky that I only have to worry about myself I don't have children of my own.

Wait, they gave you a pay stub with taxes withheld on it, but they didn’t remit fica?! Wow... In that case, they will get hit with fines.

I'm not sure exactly what happened I'd like to think the best of people. It was a pay stub that they did on their own because the mom works in finance.

Did it have a breakdown of hours, pre-tax money, taxes withheld, and take-home pay? If not, it was a receipt (something signifying that you were paid x amount), NOT a paystub (something that states the above breakdown).

Then you provide every bit of written proof you have to both the IRS and unemployment. THEY will be paying fines. You won’t.
