I thought Germany had closed their border from flights outside the EU.

German citizens can always return home.

If they can find transportation!

For any APs looking to get home, have them contact their embassy first. Some of them are tracking flights back to the home country, so that they can quickly disseminate alternate plans if one option falls through.

Ugh. Our BP’s flight involves changing planes at JFK so if his flight to Germany is cancelled, he will be stuck in NYC without anyone or anything. I dearly hope all goes smoothly.

My former AuPair came to visit in february and got stuck here until just last week. Flights in the last 3 weeks to Germany have really opened up. She did IAD-ATL-Frankfurt

Our former au pair was set to visit the week after the shutdown and we all have been so bummed. I’ll have to tell her she could have gotten stuck here - we didn’t even imagine that as a possibility!

Yes, she was here the last week in February until May 18! She does come to visit each year and is truly part of the family. We ended up paying her to watch the kids. She is like a sister to them and it could not have worked out better.
