Stop. They are total assh*les and playing you. Do not believe their lies. You did the right thing.

No one who employs a nanny is that desperate.

I am so sorry this happened to you, OP. You did nothing wrong. Please share what your employers tried to do and their response with everyone who knows them.

Anonymous wrote:These are tough times, but employers still need to pay their employees for time worked. Agree with the threat to take them to small claims court. Assume we're talking about $1000 or less; they should certainly have that banked for your check. Family can come first, but creditors (you among them) expect to be paid.

For two weeks, could easily be $2,500.

Don’t respond to that mother, op. You are NOT in the wrong, your former employer is— and since you threatened to take her to court, she knew she would have to pay anyways. Enjoy the money you worked for and keep it moving!

OP, that's really crappy of your employers to write that. They sound unstable. If they are really that bad off there are free programs that provide meals/formula to children. You were entitled to pay for the hours you worked.

They aren’t that bad off. They’re creeps who tried to stiff OP on money owed.

Don’t fall for their nonsense, OP. That is your hard-earned money. You don’t even get severance!

I am sure you will miss the poor kids but you have no choice but to move forward. I’m really sorry this happened to you.

Are you sure they’re both unemployed?
What are their job titles?
My bosses still work, one boss is getting paid for his employees through the stimulus bill
And the don’t want to pay me severance nothing
And they make a lot of money...
And in addition to that
They want me to come back working for them once they decide they want me to work again
Don’t want me to quit, don’t want to fire me....
People are so messed up
The rich so worried that $1k will run them into bankruptcy

I'm 21:10. Ignore their comment. They're scared and angry and wrongly taking it out on you. Just be glad you don't have to enter into a legal battle and move on with your life.

DO NOT FEEL BAD!!! These are truly terrible people. Feel good that you stood up for what is right. Good for you for getting your pay. I highly, highly doubt that by paying you their children will go without. For them to say something likes this does not speak to thier financial need but rather to the fact that they are manipulative a******* and you are hopefully better off not having to work for them. Even if they are in truly dire circumstances they will be able to get help in ways THAT ARE NOT STEALING FROM PEOPLE which is what they were trying to do by not paying you. You already worked the hours and you are a person who deserves respect and dignity and needs to eat too!

Do not go back to work for these cretins.

WOW don't feel badly though they owed you this. And most people are getting a Stim Check. So I would let it go and move on and DEFINITELY find another job.

Do not feel guilty. Their personal situation doesn't mean you owe them free work. After all they let you go with no notice, depriving you of an income!

Most employers are definitely NOT getting a stimulus check. It tops out with a salary from 2018 or 2019 of $150k. Even if they lost their job now, it’s not based on current income.

Anyone getting a stim check can't afford a good nanny.
