She also knew that she would marry well and her job was more of a lark notva profession.

Having just watched "The Crown," it is clear she made a wrong choice in marriage. If she had remained a nanny, she'd be alive and probably very happy today. She obviously had a talent for being with young children, who would have given her great joy.

She was also Lady Diana Spencer from one of England's most aristocratic families. Being a nanny was just until the right aristocratic husband came along. Apples and oranges.

This must be a troll... but if not...

1. A maid is a perfectly honest and very difficult job. Maids are frontline health workers, and that includes supporting physical and mental care of the people they work with. On top of this, they are underpaid, undervalued, and often without recourse to action against unfair treatment (by people such as PP), for a variety of circumstances.

2. A nanny is not a maid. I don't even know how to begin to explain this to you. A nanny is one of the top people who will influence the development of a young human being, and a central figure in any family. Even in those families that do not recognize this, a nanny wields untold power and influence because she (or he?) spends significant time with children, helping to realize their potential (or not... ).

3. Many maids and nannies are as ambitious as any money-hungry fund manager, and MANY have moved FAR, FAR beyond their initial circumstances, and thus actually have achieved way more in life than the cushy trust fund babies who go around feeling entitled.

4. You should be ashamed of yourself, PP. Does your mother know how you turned out?

I’m a teacher, not a maid.

If you do not have a license issued by the state in which you live certifying you to teach in a school, then you are not a teacher. You are a nanny--a glorified maid. You are the help. Anyone can be a nanny.

I homeschool prek-hs. You don't have to be a licensed teacher in every state.

You don't even have to have a college degree to home scool but you still are not considered a teacher! Also, homeschooling kindergarteners is a joke. You Are teaching them the alphabet and to count to ten. They will ace the entrance exam for first grade.

OP there is a forum here just for nannies. If you post there I hope people are kinder. People can be pretty petty and mean here on Off Topic. You could ask Jeff to move your thread. (Some of these respondents would be hell to nanny for. Or they are bitter they can’t have a nanny.)

Teachers do not wash clothes, change diapers, light housework, or cook for their students.

You must have had terrible teachers. All of my elementary teachers would have had no issues with wiping butt if needed. They sure do enough organizing and cleaning of classrooms, which can be much harder than light housework.

OP, I would think being a nanny can only be a plus in the dating world. Why do you think otherwise?

I don't think men will mind. They tend to like nurturing women.

obviously you don't have a college degree either, you can't even spell school. Yes, they are considered a teacher, they TEACH children. No homeschooling kindergarteners is not a joke, are you able to teach a five-year-old to read and write? I don't think so! They do a whole lot more than learning how to count to ten, some Kindergarteners, are even learning another language! Plus if this person is homeschooling a child who doesn't speak English already, they have to teach it to them! English is one of the hardest languages to learn. Also, there are no exams in the first grade.

You sound like the person from another thread that is obviously pissed off that others have found a career that they love where they can make good money and not need a degree to do it.

Are you still paying off your student loans? Do you have a degree that is pretty much worthless or hasn't gotten you to the point where you wanted to be? It definitely sounds like this. More and more people aren't getting degrees due to that.

Stop being so entitled with thinking that a degree is necessary for everything. My job *is* skilled labor, not many can raise other people's children. You can learn skills without being in school for it, experience far outweighs education in this industry.

I have never had any student loans or *any* debt, plus I have a fair sized savings account. Not many people can say that.
