Get the stroller down with a light blanket in the bag underneath. Next, carry both babies down. Set one on the ground on the blanket. Strap one in. Then, strap the second one in. Toss blanket into the bag underneath. Done. |
OMG! Are you fricking kidding?! Lie a baby on the ground in winter and turn your back on her to go into the house and get the other?!! Dear God, please tell me you have never done this!! Twins nanny here. You put both in the stroller and go down the three stairs backwards. |

Twins nanny, you can't read. I said "carry both babies down." I expect my nanny bundles up the baby when they go out in winter so no, I have no problem with the baby being on the ground on the blanket for twenty seconds it takes a normal person to strap one baby into the stroller. |
I almost wondered if you were someone I knew?! I have twins and live on the third floor of a condo building with no elevator! I did exactly this. Strapped each in their car seat and brought them down flight by flight. The difference here, though, is that to the extent my babies were by themselves for a few seconds, it was still within the confines of my condo building. I'm not sure how much space there is between OP's front door and the street, but I would be wary leaving a baby outside for a few seconds. It's probably hardly any different from what I did with my twin babies but just mentally, it would be harder to overcome. So I would definitely just try to put them in the stroller and go backwards if it is only three steps. |
