It also depends on the nanny’s hours and role in the family. When I worked 40 hours a week, I never did any screen time unless there was a specific purpose (e.g., pulling up a video clip to show them something we had discussed).

Right now I work about 65 hours per week and allow screen time more regularly, because I am there from when the kids wake up until after bedtime and I am responsible for many aspects of their lives outside of direct child care. So for example last week I volunteered to run a project at their school and needed to arrive 15 before class started to set up for the other volunteers. I let the kids watch tv while I set up.

I watched tv after school and turned out just fine and they will too. Schools use screens as learning tools, ways to introduce new ideas or expound upon old ones. A truly good teacher will teach using many methods, including videos.

Thanks for all replies ( specially you )

They spend way too much time on screens while in school. It starts in kindergarten and just gets worse. When a teen does EVERYTHING on the computer and struggles to remember where they put their pencil (because they never use it), I think there’s a problem.

The children I nanny for have unlimited screen time. They are older tweens. They do nothing but look at their iPads and go to school.
