I actually remember reading in another forum about similar situation . The young host kid was severely immunocompromized. The pediatrician agreed with mom that it was a risk, and offered to treat AP, but AP refused. Knowing about their child condition, HM asked ever which way about medical history of incoming AP in matching and was assured there was no history. So I get that HM decision (might not be your example).

Yea, the mom sounds brilliant. Let's hire a foreign worker with absolutely no understanding of the foreign nationals background to care for her "severely" immunocompromised child.

I've heard a different, but similar story where the host kids were healthy, but the HM asked the AP to be more careful and not share drinks or makeup, but the AP laughed it off and refused. This is not a case of the HF being crazy, but the AP being completely reckless about passing the virus to kids who may get cold sores for the rest of their lives because AP couldn't be bothered to take normal precautions about their condition.
