I’m a nanny for over 12 years and I’m non stop on top of my charges and love to make them
Laugh
We are outside all the time getting fresh air and excercise

I was wondering how/what she did during the trial that you liked about her
And
What will you end up doing? Keep us posted please!

Same poster here. I just took a shower, and I realized what a B she is, you text her and she doesn’t even show any emotions towards you. She is trying to show you she’s the boss in your house, no respect whatsoever. I would not let her come back into your house again, you don’t owe her anything
I’m shocked how she didn’t flinch when you texted her

You should fire this nanny because clearly she’s not very smart. I mean, when I want to go on my phone I know all the corners where the cameras don’t film or else I go outside where there’s no cameras. Duh!

She engages my kid constantly, doeh playdoh, plays games, goes to parks. Reads to her and plays board games. She is fabulous. We only pay low because she lives in our immediate neighborhood so not driving to get to me, i only have one kid and shes easy and in bed by 8. You don't get what u pay for and great peoole come along and price gouge tou.

You pay low because you are cheap.

Get rid of her

Eady. She would watch TV!

Does she know about the cameras OP??

I noticed that someone already asked you this, but see that you never answered the question.

Anyway, Nanny cameras are designed to catch child abuse.
Not to watch someone every hour.
Aren’t you supposed to be working??!

Maybe your Nanny did not text back because when you asked her to turn off the T.V., maybe she then realized she was being watched w/out her consent or knowledge.
And she’s being passive/aggressive.

Just some food for thought......

$20 for 1 child, isn’t cheap. There are plenty of nannies in the DC area who make $20 for 1 child, especially, if they don’t have any house chores such as laundry. I’m sure those saying $20 is low are nannies who aren’t satisfied with their pay— and guess what, you agreed to it because you couldn’t find a higher paying job.

Anonymous wrote:I hired a nanny recently who seemed GREAT. Previous experience, education, great references. She did well on two trial shifts but today I asked her repeatedly to not watch TV except during naps. I checked our cameras and watched her multiple times while my child sat alone while she was eating, sitting on the couch with her feet up watching TV, and just stayed in one room the entire day. I texted her asking her to turn the tv off and she didn’t respond.

I’m so annoyed. I’m paying her $20/hr and no housekeeping. The weather was great today and she could have done anything, ANYTHING but watch TV and that’s all she did.

I checked on her every hour and every hour she was in the same spot, watching TV either holding the baby or sitting with him on the floor on her phone.

Why do you think her references were so great?

You are totally right to he unhappy. So sad you made a really bad decision to hire her and also so sad that there are lot of Great nannies out, looking for a Job.

Good for her! Your boss should fire you for checking on nanny all day and not doing your job.

You need to give your sitter a raise, PP. I don’t know where you live but that’s not even minimum wage where I live. If not for fairness then give her a raise so you don’t lose her to MCDonalds or Dairy Queen.

Totally agree.
Pay this girl minimum wage at the very least, because if she's as good as you say, other parents WILL realize this & steal her away.

You already know her worth, now pay her for it!

This is VERY dependent on where the poster lives. She is paying OVER minimum wage in Virginia, so please don't make stuff up. If she lives in the suburbs of DC, she should definitely increase what she is paying. If she lives far out in Virginia, that is probably over what a lot of others pay and over what a lot of her friends would make doing other jobs.
