Venting again. My 4 yr old pulled the garage door opener out of the car over the weekend and it remains missing. I haven't replaced yet, so AP has to physically push the keypad on outside of house (which she has used many times) to close the garage door. Neighbor texts me today to let me know garage door is open (and house is unlocked) and car has been gone for an hour. So. Explained it this evening as unsafe (have had issues and discussion previously about loxkinf doors before leaving - other doors have been left unlocked in the past). Not so much as an apology from AP but at least I got an "okay." I did not anticipate some of these things happening. Certainly have learned a lot and will have a much more detailed handbook if we do this again!

This happens! When we moved to our new house we will forget to lock the garage door at least once a week for the first couple of months.

Agreed. I've left my garage door open accidentally before, and so has every single one of my neighbors.

Who was watching the 4 year old when they pulled the opener out of the car and lost it? Was AP on duty, or were you/your spouse responsible for her at the time? Sorry OP, but it sounds like you are making just as many mistakes as your AP, but only find it a problem when she does it.

LOL at the sanctimommies. You really watch your 4 year old every second that yours would never have grabbed an item and then instantly lost it? It's probably not lost, but under the seat where no one has 15 minutes to clean out the crevices in the car thoroughly enough to find.

I bet you never lose the tv remote in your house either.

In a car? In the front drivers seat? Yes, absolutely! There is absolutely no reason why a 4 year old should be within reach of the garage door opener (which most people keep on a clip on their front visor, or other place easily accessible to the driver.) The 4 year old must have been unsupervised in the car which is extremely dangerous!
If that was on AP's watch, I would rematch immediately!
If that was on parents watch, they are negligent!
