I trust our nanny. I just want to see my kid during the day. I pop in and watch her play or sleep. It was never about checking up on the nanny. |
We have one in DS' room (installed when DS was born long before we hired a nanny). One in the living room (a drop cam type deal that's visible that we also had installed when we moved in in because it faces the back door) and then the last ones are outside. 1 for the front door and 2 trail cams in the back yard because we have a ton of wildlife (bears, bobcats, moose, etc) that go through our backyard and it's pretty cool to see.
Ds' nanny knows they are there. |
Oh and I'll add, sometimes we pop into the feed just to see what DS is up to. But we always text her first to say "hey. Have a free minute at work. Going to pop in and see what you guys are up to!". And a lot of times she will have DS hold up a little sign that says "hi Mommy" or "hi Daddy". She knows we don't have the cams to check on her |
This annoys me. Parents who have some sick voyeurism that like having access to see another person anytime they so desire. Or the parents who claim they only have the cameras up to see how their precious cherub is doing that day. That they fully “trust” their Nanny. I wish parents would be more upfront + honest. By acting so transparent, it shows us their own weird quirks. ![]() |
I work with parents who logically know kids will get hurt but may not fully understand that. So, I recommend cameras. That way I can say “Please pull up the footage for the living room around 2.15 this afternoon before you come home. Although I iced both heads, the twins do each have a goose egg from colliding.” Works much better to have parents prepared for hurt children who don’t even remember by the time they get home, that way the parent can get over their own worries prior and not put extra trauma on the kids by going over it again. |
Every room. Use two in bigger rooms. One just outside the bathroom so you can see how often nanny goes in there and for how long. ![]() ![]() ![]() Really if you need to use a camera, one in the bedroom, one in the common area. Your nanny isn't making a reality tv show. |
God, I hope you aren’t a nanny or involved in child care in any way. |
Nanny here and what is the big fricking deal with some of you?! There are cameras in most workplaces and a nanny’s work place is someone’s home. I honestly don’t get the hatred of cameras in 2019.
I encourage cameras. I actually want my employers to see how hard I work and how happy I make their children. |
They don't give a damn about how hard you work or how happy you make their children. If you've been their nanny six months then the cameras should come down. |
Why? Honestly I approve of cameras. I honestly don’t understand why you have such strong feelings against them. I do want them to see how hard I work all the time and we all care that the child is happy. |
Fake nanny above. It is the employer posting. |
No. I am a nanny and former teacher in LA. I approve of cameras and have never worked in a home or school that didn’t have them. |
