Someone mentioned they didn't qualify and I think that can happen if you you earn a low yearly rate, in which case it will tell you that you must apply for Medicaid. The amounts may vary by state though.

Not the same pp but I tried to go through Obamacare and I didn’t qualify. My annual income was $72,000 (share) at that time. I ended up going with BCBS and I pay $358.72 for an individual plan.

Everyone qualifies for Obamacare. You just didn’t qualify for a subsidy. Neither do I but I still purchased my insurance on Obamacare.

When people say they don’t qualify for Obamacare, I believe they are referring to the subsidy. Anyone can get insurance and don’t have to go on Obamacare. Obamacare is to help people afford health care based on their income, to have access to plans after open enrollment (depending on the reason) and for those who have pre-existing medical conditions can no longer be denied coverage.

So those of us who understand what Obamacare means, understand when people say they don’t qualify. It has nothing to do with being denied coverage.

I meant to add: you can go on shop to look at plans. I know families personally, who offer x amount of money and the nanny pays her own insurance. It is paid separately so it doesn’t get taxed. Some do require the nanny to show proof of insurance every 3-6 months.
