Let's be honest here. Would you want your young adult child going to work in the private residence of complete strangers? I seriously doubt it.

Yes. Sites like Glassdoor have reviews (references) from current and former employees. Don't you research a potential place of employment before you go work there?

If I can't pull up a decent amount of information on a family just using their names, cell numbers and address, I don't interview. They always give that information prior anyway, so if Google can't find what I need? Nope, I pass.

You can google the parents, you can check their social media, you can look up court records for free in some areas... you have options to check out the parents.
