Also, I am a career nanny, but when I worked part time, I had all the standard benefits, but they were adjuster to my work days/hours. I would not have stayed without those benefits.

I would pay for all holidays that fall on one of her normally scheduled work days, but not ones that don't -- wouldn't that be more like a bonus?

Agree, but you have to up her hourly rate.

We have a nanny two full days a week and we pay her only for the holidays that fall on a work day. It doesn’t make any sense to me to pay her for holidays she isn’t scheduled to work on. She is with another family for two days a week and they do the same. Is your nanny’s other family paying her for all holidays? Because then she’s asking for double pay for all holidays.

OP here: She is asking for all holidays that are on her days she works but then also like Christmas Eve, New Years Eve, etc. The other family also pays her holidays. When we hired her we guaranteed her the # of hours each week but made it clear the # of holidays we would cover and that she could make up the hours on another day if she wanted to.

So is she asking to be paid for Christmas Eve etc if she is off that day at your request (when she would otherwise be working)? Or is she asking for those days off and to be paid? The first situation is reasonable and part of guaranteed pay, the second is not. Also, christmas and NYE are not federal holidays...

She is asking to be off and paid. I know NYE isn't I gave it to her as a courtesy since New years day was on one of her scheduled days off
