Your job is to feed the kids. You need to make something they will eat. |
Nope, my job is to follow my employers instructions. |
Op here- Look my feeling is that children in developed countries rarely starve, but I actually like cooking and like these kids so I don’t want to act like a dictator and just tell them to eat. I want to discover new recipes and cook new food they maybe haven’t tried yet. It’s not about them being spoiled and not eating, I like to cook and I’m happy to try new recipes to find things they love. I was a picky eater growing up and now I eat lots of different things but stuff refuse to eat mushrooms! |
Zucchini fritters with Parmesan inside
Flash fried chicken tenders (coated on Panko or parm) Mashed avocado - goes for guacamole in my household Frozen green peas Home made turkey dumplings : like at a Japanese restaurant: ground turkey, a little soy sauce, Finely chopped scallions. Use a dumpling wrapper. I freeze and then steam or fry. Grilled cheese: we use challah bread, mix sliced cheese and shredded Mexican mix. |
[b] Great ideas, thank you!! I currently make homemade potstickers/dumplings but only once every few months because it’s so time consuming. It takes me hours but the kids help and I freeze them to have for later. Love the fritters idea! Just won’t tell them it’s zucchini haha |
This isn't about you and your needs. You are paid to do a job which is to feed kids, not do a personal crusade. This isn't about developing countries. Kids don't want to try new things and recipes. You aren't that picky of an eater if you don't have any basic understanding of it. If you choose not to feed my kids and told them things like they are spoiled for not eating, I'd fire you instantly. That's abusive, and partially neglectful. Cook for yourself on your own time, not at your job when others may not enjoy it like you do. You sound spoiled and selfish. |
Chocolate oatmeal
1 c oatmeal 2 c milk 1/2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/8 tsp clove Salt to taste 1 tsp honey or brown sugar per child Heat the milk on medium, stirring occasionally to prevent a skin from forming. When it’s warm, whisk in the spices. Once it’s hot, stir in the oatmeal, reduce heat to low and stir occasionally. Once half the liquid is absorbed, turn off the heat, so it can cool to a child-friendly level while absorbing the rest. Kids can choose honey or brown sugar; I put it on their spoon while they watch, and then they stir it in. My current charges ask for this frequently. We serve it with Greek yogurt and fruit. |
[b] Are you serious? Can you read? You sound like an Idiot, PP!! Where does it say anything in the post that’s selfish of a fireable offence?? I’d quit working for you since you’re not smart enough to read a paragraph and understand what it says. |
Sure I always make a ton of the dumplings and freeze on a couple cookie sheets as well and then throw in a ziplock for later. You can fritter anything. Chipped briccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, purple potatoes, etc. |
