I don't think you know what pigtails are. Pigtails are braids...the elastic band is further, not closer to the hairline. Ponytails get the band closer to the hairline.

Pigtails aren't braids, unless they're braided pigtails. Pigtails are two ponytails on the head.
Note the word braided: pig·tail
?pi??t?l/Submit
noun
plural noun: pigtails
1.
a braid of hair hanging from the back of the head, or either of a pair at the sides.
"she had her hair done in pigtails"
2.
a short length of flexible braided wire connecting a stationary part to a moving part in an electrical device.

Not the common vernacular. Pigtails in the US are two ponytails on either side if the head and not braided.

If OP meant braids, I think she would have said braids.

OP why are the pig tails a problem?

I used to love Cindy Brady’s adorable pig tails as a kid!!

Anyway, if this is your biggest complaint you have about your Nanny then pat yourself on the back.

You have won the Nanny lottery!!

I cannot believe we're arguing whether pigtails are two ponytails or two braids.

This is how we're spending our lives? Really?

I literally LOL! Why is this a topic? You sound crazy! You prefer your child to wear 1 ponytail instead of 2? Why do you care about stuff like this? And at this age, they start to ask for ponytails- most the time. The parents always thank me for not letting their child walk around looking a mess with hair all over their head. I also don’t like kids having their hair all in their face- they can’t see, snot gets in their hair and or food.

Unless her scalp is red or bleeding or your daughter is complaining that it hurts, you shouldn’t care that your nanny takes time to do your daughters hair (in 1 or 2 ponytails) and wants to ensure your child looks decent. I would be annoyed if a parent asked me not to stop doing their child’s hair but can you only put ONE ponytail in her hair- she’s a little girl! I just laughed again.
